At Vom Himmelhoch Shepherds, we strive to produce dogs that live up to this ideal. And we are proud of our successes.

A key component of our program is Schutzhund training. With its athletic emphasis, Schutzhund helps breeders of many service breeds to preserve a strong working temperament in their dogs.

A note on "long coats" and the German Shepherd Dog breed standard

Responding to an SV request, an FCI ruling, effective January 1, 2011, allows the German Shepherd Dog with "Long coat/hair with undercoat" to:

Participate in breed surveys,
Participate in breed shows in their own class,
Be accepted into the breed books; to be bred to the same coat type.
